It’s Getting Scary In The Smoky Mountains

October in Gatlinburg TN is not only for cozy mountain cabins, leaf peeping, craft fairs, and hayrides – oh, no! It’s a time to get your scare on, and no one does it better than Ripley’s Haunted Adventure with their Annual Fright Nights. This is no little “trick or treat” gigglefest! Nothing is scarier than an insane asylum where the fiendish inmates have gotten loose; exactly the setting for a past year’s “Experiment in Terror” shows! Greg Weir, artistic manager of Ripley’s Haunted House says, “We want to go beyond the typical ‘boo scares’ and add an element of mental scares.” Well, try wrapping your mind around this fact: Ripley’s Haunted Adventure sits on the site that was once a factory for GRIMsby & Streaper Casket Company. Fright Nights run throughout the month of October on weekends as well as Halloween Night and start at 6 p.m. sharp. Each weekend delivers up a different tasty show treat, so you can come scream like a little girl—er—be surprised, over and over. However, due to the graphic nature of the House, no one under the age of 6 is allowed and a guardian must accompany those under age 12.

Ripley’s Haunted Adventure is located at traffic light #8 on the Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg. Single admission tickets for Fright Nights at the door are $14.99 + tax for ages 12 and up, and $9.99 + tax for ages 6-11. Although Fright Nights are weekends only (plus Halloween Night), Ripley’s Haunted Adventure is open daily from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. now through New Year’s Day.
